Cost of Implementing VPN
----------
Hi I work with a large company. Currently there is a discussion that the company should open up its network to its employees via Internet through VPN.I was asked to look into pros and cons and submit a high-level presentation. I would greatly appreciate responses to following points.

1) The company has a dedicated direct connection to Internet and employees access the web from workplace via a proxy. However if allow the access to the enterprise network from the web via VPN is it 100% secure? Would we be compromising the security of the enterprise network?

2) Where can I find a blue print for VPN implementation? Who are the consultants and best products?

3) What are the cost drivers? How much would it cost to have the VPN Implementation for both hardware and software?

Hi!

VPNs are securing networks over insecure network like internet, they use IPSEC protocol which is a IETF standard which provides anti-replay, authentication and antirepudiation.
