Does this exist?
----------
So far all of the vpn solutions that I have found seem to try to do more then this and also perhaps less than this. Is there any existing software that will allow me to connect disperse computers in a way that each of the computers views the VPN as a network interface card(emulated) that is connected to a private network? Furthermore all of the computers in this network except perhaps a dhcp server are behind a router and a firewall and they do not have access to the router so it is not possible to set up a port forwarding arrangement to pass requests to the computer directly. Thank you
Jesse

What is it you are trying to do ? Map all computer thru the vpn connections ? That is possible, and I don't see why you would want to emulate it. I have done this with mikrotik for a while now, all you have to do, is route all the computers default gateways to the vpn connection.

On the DHCP server issues, is it behind or in front of the vpn ?

port foward

With the port froward, you can setup two network cards on the computer you want froward, and have that port forward to the card that is not going tho the vpn connection. Seems like a lot of work tho to get it going. But it can be done.

I wasn't even thinking about hardware solutions at the time. I imagine that if you are attached to a hardware VPN that it must work much like a router and be connected to with a network interface card. In that situation you could trust that NIC to be secure as long as you trust the VPN device. Every computer attached to the VPN would be accessible just like if they were on your LAN (Which they may or may not be). If the computer has another NIC attached to a WAN then that NIC would be more suspect. I am looking for a software solution for a computer with one NIC that is attached to the internet. The software would ideally present a TUN/TAP emulated NIC which will only broadcast to the computers attached to the VPN and only listen to them as well. Something like SocialVPN.

Thanks,
