problems ---------- I am trying to install a
LinkSys BEFVP41 VPN
Router on our office
network in order that I
can make a connection
between my home computer
and the office network.
I have not been able to
get any internet access
through the VPN Router so
far. Any suggestions
will be appreciated.
Here is my setup and
configuration.
The
label on the modem has a
tag on it that our ISP
placed there with this
information: WAN:
216.170.217.238 LAN:
216.170.217.240/28
Here’s the equipment and
settings DSL

to the router

We have
additional IPs assigned
to up that we can use for
the router. I really
prefer to not change the
server configuration
(i.e.-use the VPN router
as a DHCP server and set
the Win2000 box to obtain
a Dynamic IP), but if
that is the best way to
go I will consider
it.
Since I have
the additional IPs
available, I would like
to set the router/gateway
up with a static IP.
Here is how I configured
it, but we can’t get it
to work.
The VPN
router is physically
between the modem and the
Win2000 server. WAN:
Static IP
216.170.217.243 LAN:
Static IP
216.170.217.244 Subnet

255.255.255.240 Gatewa
y: 216.170.217.241 DNS
servers: 204.246.1.20
and
204.70.128.1
With
this configuration, I can
ping the LAN side of the
VPN router
(216.170.217.244), but I
get no response from the
WAN side
(216.170.217.243). Of
course, I also can’t get
to the modem
(216.170.217.241).
Obviously I
missed something. Do I
need to configure a
static route from one
side of the VPN router to
the other? Any
suggestions of how to set
this up wll be
appreciated. If you have
any questions, please
email me at:
blake@hankinsco.com Sorry for the length of
this posting. Thanks in
advance for all
help!
