Multi-office VPN for some customers
----------
I am helping a few customers with the following needs? A head office with NT and/or Linux servers in operation. The branch officess need to get into these servers. The services can be intranet, SSH server (or telnet server and database realtime access. There may two or more different servers at the headoffice. How can I help them with VPN and NAT? What inexpensive hardware/software solutions would you suggest and will there be any issues with speed, peroformance and bandwidth? The connection will be ADSL. How hard/easy is this to setup.

the answer to this question relies on many factors, including:

what is your technical skill level?
what is the budget?
are there remote users?
etc... etc... etc...

the reason is that you could set up a vpn for free using OpenBSD or Linux or you could use commercial equipment provided by a vendor like Checkpoint, Cisco, Nortel, NetScreen, etc. Some products are better for remote user connectivity and others are better for site-to-site.

my advice would be to do more research. read through the resources on this site. when you have a better feel for you situation, post a more specific question.
