VPN Links
----------

I know I should know this already, but is there a way in which a client can create a VPN link to a server, but still allow them to access other services?

i.e. A client computer has a VPN connection to a server, but still wants to access their internet and email, without disengaging the VPN link.

I seem to recall there was a way to do this, but I cannot find the notes I took.

TIA!

VPN Split Tunneling
----------
You are describing split tunneling. This means that there is a secure connection (VPN tunnel) going out of the computer and a public tunnel (insecure) simultaneously.
This is inherently insecure and a serious backdoor vulnerability for networks. The famous Microsoft intrusion a few years ago was caused by a backdoor entry.

Given all this, it is possible to allow split tunneling on most VPN solutions. It's not recommended but some people don't care about the security of their VPN and only use it to make remote access simple and cheap.

Thanks
----------

I seem to recall that.

These links are for a proprietary piece of software. The people will not be using this option often, but when the need is there, it has to be done.

Thanks for the info. This is what I get for getting out of the industry for a year without keeping up on the studies.
