VPN Tables

I want to know where I
can get information about
how the routers found in
a VPN works..
that
is the different fields
that the routing table
has and how it uses this
table to send data to its
destination
address.
for
example a private host
having a particular IP
address is routed to its
destination to send
data.
if there is
any notes, explanations
from anyone who has some
knowledge about this is
most
welcomed.
