VPN for secure FTP server

Hi, i am a newbie and is
not a network trained
personnel, so my question
might quite stupid.
Sorry for that! Anyway,
i had setup a Network
storage device and can
access it remotely using
public ip or the ddns
host. I understand FTP
is an insecure language
for transfering. I plan
to use a VPN for that.
But i not sure how to
start, as i say easlier
on, i am stupid.. so
could your reponse be
simplfied and more
specific. Once again,
thanks for all your
help.. and your help is
