FVS-318 ---------- I have a Netgear Fvs-318
and I cannot get it to
connect to any VPN
software at all. The
most common error is IKE
proposal not received.
The router logs shows
that it was trying to
connect, but it fails to
do so. I have tried the
netgear support but they
arent the brightest bulbs
in the box. Any help or
pointers would be very
helpful. Thanks in
advance | eric1 Member since: 2002-09-05 15:28:27 | posted: 2002-09-05 16:24:49 Me too ---------- I just bought this router
and am trying to set up a
VPN with other PCs at my
brother's house. He does
not have a VPN router
(RT314). I am currently
trying to get W2K to
connect, but haven't
completed testing the
link. I will let you
know how that goes; I
will check back to see
how yours
goes.
From what I
can tell, Netgear only
supports the SafeNet
application for
connectivity today, so
win98 is S.O.L. without
this (expensive)
software. | Thomas Member since: 2002-09-06 01:43:02 | posted: 2002-09-06 01:50:08 Netgear support ---------- I've been calling the
German and American
Netgear support some days
ago and both said that
the Microsoft client has
been test and is
working. Help will be
posted shortly on their
website. | ralpht2 Member since: 2002-09-02 11:29:25 | posted: 2002-09-09 22:18:06 VPN Test ---------- If you go to there FTP
site and browse you can
find the Windows 2000
directions. Unfortantly
I have not been able to
get those directions to
work on Windows XP, since
I just finished upgrading
all my computers to
Windows XP. I have tried
SSH with no luck at all.
I did get IKE to connect
with Windows XP, but it
seems that Windows XP
doesnt have the correct
security algorithms. I
will continue to try and
test the VON tunnel, but
it seems that without
more client support, that
this isnt going to work
correctly. I have talked
to Netgear American
support, they seem able
to only be able to tell
that I have to spend
another $150 to get a VPN
tunnel working, when the
box says it supports
other clients. Thanks
for the help guys. | modcpa Member since: 2002-09-28 19:18:32 | posted: 2002-09-30 06:24:39 Me Three ---------- I had the same problems
with the FVS318. The
solution from netgear was
to buy additional
software and then call
the software company for
support. Do the
linksys models have the
same authentication
problems with xp? | plastersan Member since: 2003-07-11 07:19:32 | posted: 2003-07-11 07:23:24 any new info? ---------- Has anyone had any more
luck with this
problem? If someone
has it figured out,
please post the
configuration that
worked. Especially
interested in SSH 1.3
-FVS318 compared config
example. Thanks! |
