under VPN ---------- I've connect my computer
(XP) to remote VPN Server
(XP) which is behind a
router. Once I made the
connection, I can view
it's share files and
local area network. But
for the remote computer,
it can not browse my
computer name in the
local area network. How
to fix it? and also I
only can gain acess to
the VPN server computer's
share folder, but I can't
get access to other
computers (all NT). I've
already add user name
(same as my log in name
for VPN) to each
computer, but still
doesn't work. The respond
was " \\XXX is not
accessible. You might not
have the permission the
access the network
resources. Contact the
administrator of this
server to find out if you
have access permission.
The network path was not
found". Can anyone please
help me solve these 2
questions? Thax | vpnChris Member since: 2002-12-10 21:38:54 | posted: 2002-12-10 21:48:14 File Sharing ---------- It is my experience that
if you do not disable
'Simple File Sharing' in
XP you will not be able
to see other shared
folders. As for seeing
the machines in network
neighborhood, that
shouldn't work unless you
have Wins server
replicating to each other
from opposite sides of
the vpn. However you
could add the machines to
your host file and then
access them by machine
name.
Hope this
helps.

that netbios is enabled
under your tcp/ip
settings. I had the same
issues. As soon as
netbios was enabled I was
able to see and navigate
network shares without
issue! Hope this
helps.

VPN connection--but get
msg--"No access rights" ---------- waleicow-- hello...I
can't believe it...that
is exactly my situation.
I created a VPN using
WinXP (create connection)
within my own home. WE
have cable ISP and a
Linksys router. (Home
Network) and I wanted to
see if I could use XP to
create a VPN through our
existing internet access.
My other machine is
Win2000. Well, like you
said.....it can't see my
files and folders on my
Win2000 machine even
though I added my user
names to both machines un
users and passwords. I
can't even see them in My
Network places. Although
i do connect to that
machines ip address no
problem. I get that same
error you said above.
XXX...check with your
network administrator you
might not have access
rights.....etc. (Where
are access rights
assigned)I didn't look
for Netbios installation
because I assumed the
TCP/IP was enough. So
much for assuming.
Haha!! And lastly, could
anyone tell me how to
disable simple file
sharing in XP and I would
hope that still allows me
to share files. Many
thanks, Wiffy3 |
