more info on VPN?

I want to connect 2
servers, One in Los
Angeles and One in
Atlanta.
What is
the best way to do
this?
I know that
Dial-up is Slow. And a
deciated line is
expensive. I heard that a
VPN is a low cost
solution but, I don't
know about the security.
Anyone have a
